The University of Sussex is a dynamic, innovative, top 20 university. With a campus based in the South Downs National Park but just a few minutes from the city of Brighton and Hove, it provides an excellent working environment in a remarkable setting, combined with all that the city has to offer.
Creative thinking, intellectual challenge and collaborative working are fundamental to a Sussex education and that is reflected in our workplace too. So this is an exciting chance to join a team working at the strategic centre of the University, with a genuine opportunity for career progression.
The role sits within the Planning, Governance and Compliance Directorate which supports the development of the University through the provision of strategic planning and high quality data, project management support and governance services. The team plays a key role in promoting how strategic decisions are made and achievements are fostered at Sussex.
The Planning Officer, with colleagues in the Planning team, is responsible for the preparation, analysis and presentation of institutional data, performance data and statutory returns concerning student data, and the quality assurance of a range of statutory returns to HEFCE and other agencies.
Working alongside a wide range of senior managers, professional service and academic staff, the role holder will also provide high quality support to the annual academic cycle and business planning cycle as well as internal reporting on planning forecasts and performance of the University, for example, in league tables.
Higher education experience is desirable but not a requirement – instead we are looking for candidates who are expert IT users, able to provide logical analysis and interpretation of data, presented in clear, high quality documents and reports.
This is an excellent opportunity to bring a range of skills and experience to bear in an exciting time of growth at one of the UK’s top Universities.
