Applications are invited for NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer in Old Age Psychiatry at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS). The post is awarded by the NIHR to BSMS in association with Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust where the successful applicant will hold an honorary contract. BSMS hosts a successful clinical academic programme delivered in partnership with local NHS Trusts providing integrated training for clinical academic trainees. Over the four years the postholder, in discussion with the training committees and academic supervisors, will be able to undertake clinical duties in order to complete their clinical training. The clinical post is supernumerary for training flexibility. The postholder will be expected to spend 50% of her/his time (averaged over four years) on clinical duties and 50% on research. The appointment will be for a fixed term of up to four years. The appointment will end after four years or six months after completion of CCT, whichever is earlier.
The appointee will undertake clinical sessions in Psychiatry within Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex in conjunction with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. She/he will hold an honorary NHS contract with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. From an academic perspective, this post will be based in the Centre for Dementia Studies within the Department of Neuroscience at BSMS. The postholder will have the opportunity to progress and develop their own research independence under guidance and supervision.
