This project provides a way to explore some of the rich multi-wavelength observations of the Hubble Ultra/eXtreme Deep Field. The HUDF/XDF is our most sensitive view of the cosmos. This small area of the sky contains thousands of galaxies present over almost the entire history of the Universe.

The Hubble eXtreme Deep Field (XDF) is a project to combine all available Hubble Space Telescope imaging of the Hubble Ultra Deep Field (HUDF). Observations of the XDF field come from 19 different programmes though with the majority coming from 3 programmes: HUDF, HUDF09, HUDF12. The original HUDF. With the installation of Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) in 2009 the HUDF09 programme obtained deep near-IR observations of a portion of the HUDF. This was further augmented by the HUDF12 programme. In addition Hubble has also obtained UV imaging through the UVUDF project.

By clicking on individual objects in the XDF it is possible to see imaging of each object in the 9 individual bands as well as the measured photometry (i.e. the spectral energy distribution, SED). Using the menu at the lower-right it is possible to change which information is displayed.
