Candidates must attempt TWO questions
Each question is worth 25 marks.
    1. What are the main components of a Production System and how do they work together to act as a Cognitive Model? (9)
    2. Describe how either ACT or SOAR has been used to model some aspect of cognition. (8)
    3. Briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of production systems as cognitive models. (8)

    1. What are the main components of a Feed Forward Neural Network and how do they work together to act as a Cognitive Model? (9)
    2. By means of an example explain how a network can be made to act as a model of a particular cognitive skill. (8)
    3. Briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of Feed Forward Neural Networks as cognitive models. (8)

    1. Compare and contrast the Blocks World language understanding program and its robot with the robots exemplified by Braitenberg vehicles. (15)
    2. What are the strengths and weaknesses of each approach as cognitive models? (10)
