Books on LISP

There are many good textbooks on LISP - the following is a very brief selection.

CHARNIAK, E. and McDERMOTT, D. (1985) Artificial Intelligence, Addison-Wesley. (QZ 1240 Cha). A general AI textbook. Chapter 2 contains some useful LISP exercises.

DEAN, T., ALLEN, J. and ALOIMONOS, Y. (1995) Artificial Intelligence: Theory And Practice, Benjamin/Cummins Publishing Co. A modern AI textbook, good on current practical applications of the subject.

HUGHES, S. (1986) LISP, Pitman, Computer Handbooks series. A short snappy guide to Common LISP. Cheap, but goes into quite a lot of detail.

STEELE, G. L. (1984) Common LISP: The language, Digital Press. (QE 1155 Lis). This is the original definition of the language - only for the brave.

WINSTON, P. H. and HORN, B. K. P. (1984) LISP, Addison-Wesley. (QZ 1240 Win). A textbook on Common LISP - may be useful if you decide to learn the language fairly thoroughly.
