One aim of the ESRC funded research project is to map nutrition and health in West Africa across space and time, 1880-1980. In this process, a number of historical maps will be digitised, some of which can be downloaded below.

The Class variable codes 3 types of roads:
- Class I: Roads suitable for motor traffic throughout the year.
- Class II: Roads suitable for motor traffic but occasionally closed.
- Class III: Roads suitable for motor traffic in dry season only.
