The University campus is located at Falmer, on the outskirts of Brighton, within easy reach of London and major international airports (Gatwick and Heathrow). RoadThe University is on the A27 road between Brighton and Lewes. Visitors driving from London and the north should take the M23/A23 towards Brighton, which then joins the A27. There are also regular coach services from London to Brighton, with local bus services operating from the city centre to the University campus. The London Megabus also calls at campus. There is a designated visitor’s car park opposite Sussex House; to gain access you need to announce your arrival to University security staff via the intercom system. Car parks are unattended and objects of value should not be left in vehicles. RailRegular trains from central London take as little as 50 minutes to Brighton. Falmer station – which is directly opposite the University campus – is well served by frequent local trains from Brighton and Lewes (the journey takes about eight minutes from either direction). AirLondon Gatwick Airport is 25 miles (40 km) north of Brighton, only half an hour’s journey by road or rail. London Heathrow Airport is little more than an hour’s drive away. SeaPassenger ferries operate between the French port of Dieppe and Newhaven, which has a direct train link to Falmer. Newhaven is just 10 miles (16 km) to the east of Brighton, along the coastal A27 road. The other major south coast ports offer regular ferry services to destinations in France, the Netherlands and northern Spain.
