Dr Philip Verwimp

Research Affiliate    MSc, PhD (KU Leuven, Belgium)

Philip Verwimp has been the Poverty Economist for the World Bank at the country office in Rwanda, since September 2004. He is co-founder of the international "Households in Conflict Network" (together with PRUS Research Fellow Patricia Justino and Research Affiliate Tilman Brück). Philip completed his PhD in Economics in January 2003 at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium with a dissertation on the political economy of development and genocide in Rwanda (Prof. Dr Stefan Dercon). He has also worked as a researcher and lecturer in political economy and development at Leuven. Philip's research interests are development, poverty, conflict, dictatorship and genocide.
